A partnership between the Halewood Park Volunteers, local councillors and Knowsley Council has secured funding to create new pathways and improvements to the entrances at Halewood Park, Okell Drive.

The £97,000 improvement programme has now completed and included creating a new cycle and walking route on the western side of the park, accessible entrances from Arncliffe Road/Stanford Crescent, Lydiate Lane Bridge and Okell Drive, path resurfacing and improvements to the board walk.

This is an excellent example of how our Knowsley Better Together initiative is bringing together community groups, volunteers and the council to create real and lasting improvements to our neighbourhoods. These improvements will enable even more residents to easily access this already popular and fantastic park.

The funding has come from FCC Communities Foundation – £47,000 – and £25,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust’s Active Spaces programme, delivered in partnership with Fields in Trust. These works were also made possible using £25,000 of S106 funding secured from KHT and Seddons Housing Partnership, as part of the planning application process to be used to improve community facilities for the benefit of local residents.
